Old Photos and Lessons Learned

Recently my brother and I have been on a mission of sorts to locate and scan any old family photo's that my dad or his brothers have in their posession.  Dad had a few boxes of pictures in storage and gave them to us!  So we have been going through them, scanning each of them, and recording any information we can find on them.  This is probably going to keep us busy for some time to come but WOW have we ever found some really cool stuff.  Here are a few I thought I would share.

I don't know what kind of animal this is.  Teele say's it's a Yak but isn't a Yak a type of cattle?  It looks like some type of sheep to me.  Maybe someone out there in blog land can solve this mystery.  Now wouldn't the kids just LOVE having something like this to play with all day?  Can you imagine the possible danger your child could be in?  Kind of like our modern day four wheelers.
This is my Maternal Grandfather, Arthur E. Mortensen, San Diego, California  in 1915

This series of Photo's was also taken in San Diego in 1925
I don't know what type of celebration they were having in the streets but I love the various clothing styles.  Everything from old cowboy, pioneer dresses and bonnet's, Spanish attire or their Sunday best complete with parasol's!

Love the Covered Wagon!  I wish Grandpa was around to ask him about these pictures...lesson's learned?  Document what, when, where and who with acid free ink on the back of each photo!  Or ASK family and talk to them about their history before it's too late.

Izzy Turns One!

It's so hard to believe that Isabelle just turned 1 year old!  Time really does go by faster and faster the older we get.  Here are some pictures from her Birthday celebration.  Crystal and Spencer bought her this "Busy Box" and she loved it!

A dolly from Aunt Jessy and Uncle John
Lots of balloons for the Birthday girl!
A cake of her own
She didn't quite know what to do with it
But before long she got the hang of it!
Later mommy gave her a bath...don't you just love all of her chocolate colored curls?
She had such a wonderful birthday party!  I view "First Birthday's" differently now.  We were so blessed to see this little girl turn one and to share that first year with her.  I Love our little Izzy and I'm so thankful for her!  Happy Birthday baby girl!
