Pinewood Derby!

William and Wayne had so much fun building their cars for the pinewood derby.  Spencer showed them pictures of cars on the internet so they could get some ideas and then gave them each some paper and had them draw their car.  Spencer cut the cars out and the boys sanded and painted them.  After two days of hard work the cars were finally ready.  The night before the derby I don't think either of the boys slept.  They were so excited!

Our ward has a large group of boys and there were so many cool cars!

William's car is in lane 2 and Waynes is in lane 4! 

Williams came in 1st with Waynes right behind him with Will's setting a new track record!

All of the boys seemed to be having a lot of fun.

And first place went to "WILLIAM"! 
His car got faster with each race.  He was one happy boy but he later told me that it was, "kind of hard to be the winner because he was afraid it made the other boys sad".  I love his humble spirit. 

Wayne's car came in 5th!

Each of the boys had to name their car. 

William named his car, "Metal Hauler" and Waynes was simply "Bob".

This was Williams last year to race. I get a little sad when I think about him being too old to race-he is growing up so fast.

As for Wayne - he is already looking forward to next year and thinking he might name his car "Larry".
