Morning Walk

Last month, while on my morning walk, I over heard a conversation between two young women.  They looked to be in their early 20's, one had blond hair and the other dark brown.  I could hear them coming long before I ever saw them.  They didn't notice me because they were deeply engrossed in their conversation. As they rounded the corner they stopped and squatted to carefully examine this....
BLOND:  "I really just don't GET ant hills"
BRUNETTE: "Me either, I mean, what are they for?"
BLOND: "Yea why do they build them!  I just don't understand it, and like, how do they build them?"
BRUNETTE: "Oh I know how they build them.  They find some dirt and then carry those little tiny pieces back and forth and then they stack em up into these hills."
BLOND: "Yea but why?  I still don't understand why they do it."
BRUNETTE: "I know ha? And if you knock it down they just stack em back up again!"

My first thought was, "They are yanking my chain!"  Surely they can't be that dumb? Haven't they ever seen an ant farm? Gone to school and learned about ants? Wondered why the ants climbed in and out of the hole in the middle of the hill? As they studdied them, and their faces gradually got closer to the mounds, I realized they were serious!  They were as mystified by those ant hills as if they were a pair of scientists looking at a set of perfectly formed crop cirlces!  The "mom" in me wanted to walk over and teach them all about ant hills, but I was biting the insides of my cheeks to keep from laughing.  So I increased my speed, looked straight ahead, and kept on going. I replayed their conversation over and over in my head!  By the time I finished my walk I decided that this was going on the BLOG!  The following morning I made sure to stop and take a picture of the mysterious mounds of dirt!

Prom Dress Shopping!

We went prom dress shopping....yes to all you mother's out there....it's emotional....fun....silly....a little tramatic because they are either too fat, too flat chested...too...well you know how that goes!  We went to Arizona Bridal Company and they had at least 1,000 gowns to choose from so it took HOURS to pick out the perfect dress!

The shop was kind enough to let me photograph her in each gown because you get a better idea of what it's going to look like when you see it in a photo!  I learned that little trick with my older girls and wedding dress shopping.

Thought I would show you some of the gowns she tried on!
Purple!  Beautiful in the front butt....
makes her butt look too big!
Blah!  Looks like grandma's drapes!
Loved the detail in this gown....
...RaLee: "It makes my boobs looks too small"
Mom replied, "Well good!  Sold!  Wrap it up and let's go!"
RaLee:  "Ha ha ha ha very funny!"
The color is too weird!
RaLee:  "MOM absolutely NO pink!"
Mom:  "Oh please just try one on for me!  Humor an old lady!"
RaLee:  "Fine, I'll try it on but I'm not getting it."
Mom:  "OH RaLee I love it"
RaLee: "Yeah it's okay but I don't like the polka dots!"
Mom:  "What freaking polka dots!"
Bet you all don't notice them either!  But they are there, very subtle, little dots in the lace!
"Too Poofy!"
Then I see Crystal sneak a gown into the dressing room.
Then I'm told to, "STAY OUT", then I hear giggles, snickers, whispers, and more giggling.
VA VA VA BOOM!
They got the biggest kick out of the look on moms face!  I guess it was priceless...anyway Crystal thought it would be funny to give this old lady a heart attack!  I'm trying to wrap my mind around the whole "Sleeveless thing" as it is!

Finally!  One everybody LOVED!

So we set this one aside....it had possibilities!
Loved the detail in the bodice, simple and elegant.
Them BAM!  WOW!  We loved it!  Choice number two!
Boobs look great...butt looked small...waist looked small...not too poofy....but
the jewels under the armpit hurt...
Mom:  "Oh whatever, suck it up, it's beautiful!"
RaLee:  "Yea I know..."

Mom:  "There is one more dress you need to try on."
RaLee: "Awwwe do I have too?  I already know I'm not going to like it."
Crystal: "Yes RaLee we've stood here all day your going to try on the last dress."
RaLee:  "Okay okay I'll try it on."

tick tock
tick tock

Yes!  It's perfect! We had the dresses narrowed down to three.
She chose the last dress, the one she just knew she wouldn't like, and no you can't see it....

We will reveal that on Prom night!
