Ellizabeth Mae is ONE!

Ellie turned one on August 24th! You can not imagine how happy everyone was to get to celebrate her "First Candle".  Of course our thoughts turned to Sage and birthdays that never will be, which only makes Ellie's day that much more special.  We are filled with gratitude for her little spirit and how much joy, happiness and healing she has brought to our family.

Her birthday was on Wednesday but we officially celebrated on Friday due to work schedules. I will post her Amazing birthday party later, but for now this was how her day went.

First things first: Mommy bathes me, rubs lotion on me, puts me in a pretty dress, fixes my hair and then has to go and ruin everything by putting a stupid bow in my hair! So first thing on the agenda is to "Get this bow out of my hair!"
"There much better"
I play ball with grandma and show off my "ball playing talents"
First Grandma rolls the ball to me
Then I stop it with my foot
Then I scoop it up with both of my feet
Then I lift the ball with both feet and place it in my hands and toss it back to grandma!
Mommy puts the finishing touches on all the decorations she made for my birthday party on Friday!
Aunt RaLee went to the store and picked me out my own special cake
Aunt Amanda, Uncle John and my cousins Isabelle and Nolan came to wish me happy birthday.
I didn't know what to do with the cake, "they want me to feed myself and get my hands dirty? Are they kidding me?!"
She daintily pokes at it with one finger
Mommy thinks if she feeds me a bite then I will eat it
Cousin Nolan thinks I'm nuts and is dieing to help me! But Aunt Amanda says, "No Nolan it's Ellie's cake."
"Nolan go see your daddy"
Then Aunt Crystal gets Nolan a chair and says he can show me how to eat cake! He got cake all over me!
The Tinkerbell Topper was his favorite!

Mommy, Grandma, and Aunt Amanda fed me cake!
But getting dirty was worth it because I got to take a fun bath with Nolan and get all clean again!

My grandchildren are a blessing and a great source of joy to me. I love them so much! I loved watching Nolan eat cake with Ellie, but I couldn't help feel a little sad knowing that Amanda and her family are moving to Logan, Utah, and I won't be there to watch him eat his own cake and to snap 249 pictures of him on his special day!
