A Day With Grandma

Sage passed away on a Thursday morning therefore Thursday's are really hard for Crystal and Spencer so they go to the Temple to help them get through the day and the up coming week. I watch the two kids that aren't in school and this is how our day went last Thursday.

I hooked them up with lots of paper and some new Markers and Crayons then put on "Go Diego Go" and thought they were set for a while. I started some laundry then checked my email and heard giggles coming from the living room.

This is what I found. Seriously it didn't take them ten minutes!

He was so excited to show me his purple foot. Jayden was very proud of her legs!
I put them on the counter to clean them up and Jayden insisted on washing her own self. Then Grandma decided since they were in such a "creative" mood to dye some macaroni for craft time and made some colored messes of her own.

They didn't turn out half bad and the kids were so excited to start glueing them on their paper
Trey worked very hard to make sure the macaroni stood up on the paper to look like worms

Jayden placed each piece very carefully on her paper Then they had some PB & J sandwiches with juice for Jayden and Milk for Trey
No sooner than lunch was over it was "snack time". I offered them Jello pudding, pretzels, bananas, apples, cookies, carrots and chips but they weren't interested. I am always trying to get Jayden to let me spray some Readi Whip from the can straight into her mouth but she refuses. So we were standing there with the refrigerator door open trying to find a snack when she asked for the Readi Whip. I tried to squirt some in her mouth and she chickened out but she actually tried some on a spoon and the next thing I knew she had grabbed the entire can and sat down on the couch to enjoy her treat.

Trey decided if Jayden liked it so much he would have to try it out and grabbed a spoon of his own.

Then they played with the Bratz dolls and colored some more only this time on the paper. The so called easy to clean up markers weren't so easy to clean up! Notice his red arms and purples legs?
Then they ate bomb pops and gummy bear fruit snacks

Watched some Backyardigans
Then Crystal and Spencer came home. Crystal chuckled at their "Body Art" and assured me it was no big deal because they were just going home to clean the garage and that they had no place to go. Then a couple of hours later she calls me in tears because Wayne had just brought her a note from his back pack reminding the parents that Kindergarten Graduation was at 6 that evening and it was already 4:30! So they threw the kids in the tub and made some phone calls to family and went to the graduation. Wayne is fourth from the left on the back row...he was the cutest boy there if I say so myself.
Payten sat on Grandma's lap and really enjoyed the music. She clapped and danced to each song. It was so cute! Waynes kindergarten teacher was the same one RaLee had 10 years ago. Mrs. Ferguson is retiring so this was her last class. She is about to publish her second childrens book! She was an awesome teacher and will be missed.
I couldn't catch Wayne for the traditional photo in front of the school. Then we went back to Crystal and Spencers for a wonderful spaghetti dinner. I had to show you how pretty her flower garden turned out in the front yard. If you remember her blog post from last fall this is the flower garden her and the kids planted.
So that's it. Grandma's crazy Thursday and I loved every minute of it!

That was some busy day for you and the family. I can see why the kids like to come to your house. All those treats and fun things to do. That would be a grandkid's heaven for sure! I'm going to have to stock up on some things once I get a few more grandkids on the ground!

Wow!! I am exhausted just reading that! They really put us grandmas through the test don't they? I loved the pictures! Funny, we take the time to snap pictures of our grandkids doing these things, but when it was OUR kids doing them...somehow it just wasn't as funny or cute! Loved this post and what a great way for Spencer and Crystal to stay close to Sage's spirit than in the temple! You're an awesome grandma!~

Boy, oh boy ... don't let my kids see this, or the grandkids. I am way mean and won't even have all that sugary stuff in the house . . . I might give in ans have to live with all the energy. I am ten years older than you are after all!

I am trying to work in the house when it gets hot outside and recreate the kids craft/coloring corner. I have lots for them to do.

By the way, those drawings have all been done so that I can do all that in baby steps and not have it looking too bad as each step gets done. Stephen helped me plan that part out! He knows how we are!!
