Church Prom

RaLee's school ,being knew, won't have their first prom until next year.  She has missed out on all of the typical High School dances including homecoming.  I have felt bad that she hasn't got to experience some of the typical High School "Fun" stuff.  This past Saturday she had a decision to make.  She could either go to a Hawaiian school dance or "Church Prom".  She went back and forth finally making her decision the day of the dance!  She chose to attend the 5 stake Prom.  Last  minute of course and we were on a strict budget so she didn't get the typical long prom gown.  I could have sewn her one but not on short notice.  She also asked if we could help send her friend Marissa to Prom.  Marissa has had a difficult time lately. Her older brother was killed last month in a motorcycle accident leaving behind a wife and 4 month old baby.  RaLee really wanted Marissa to go and have a good time.

I kept asking her if she needed Bishop to sign anything so she could go and she looked at me like I was nuts.  Sure enough just one hour before prom starts she learns that they do need a permission slip.  So Teele, being the greatest dad ever, makes some calls and gets the needed signatures.

It is increasingly difficult to find anything modest!  It's always sleeveless so you have to wear the little half tops to cover them.  Then the dresses either cling to every body part, are cut too low in the front, back or both, or they are too short.  RaLee's dress was just almost to low cut for my taste.  You almost have to glue them in place.  Finally with some last minute "Shopping Magic" we got the girls to Prom.
RaLee's dress  -$14.99   Originally $90
Marissa's Dress -$19.99 Originally $110
RaLee's Black Heels - $19.99 Original Price $100
Grand Total- $55.00
Total Savings - $245.00
We couldn't find Marissa any shoes but Charlee had the perfect pair we could borrow.  RaLee did their hair, nails and make up and they were off to the Prom.

RaLee and Hunter- He was such a trooper.  He new they were going dancing but left the choice up to RaLee either way he was taking her dancing.
I think my daughter is so Beautiful!
When she got home I asked her if she had a good time and she replied, "Oh Yea!  The best!"  The decorations were beautiful complete with a red carpet entrance.  Then  RaLee said that Marissa's  parents came and got her midway through the dance.  Her grandmother had passed away.  My heart broke for her.  I had hoped she would have a nice evening.  We never know what Heavenly Father has in store for any of us all we can do is continue on in Faith.

Isn't it amazing what our kids can dig out of us? That is amazing that yo got it all pulled together that fast and so reasonably. She looks great ! I am glad that she had so much fun.

It really is too bad that Marissa's parents didn't just wait until she cam home to tell her about her grandmother. Makes me wonder if they needed her for support. I could understand if that were the case.
