The night had it’s ups and downs. I decided not to dwell on the confrontation with people who insist on standing in large groups in front of the people in the bleachers blocking everyone’s view, or the kid, after hearing the announcer advertising hot dogs for sale, grabs himself in front of Trey and screams, “HOT DOG”, or the fact that the quilt got lost and finally returned, the super HOT temperature and humidity and how our back sides sweated and melted into the bleachers, or the boy who decided to turn one of the VERY powerful sprinklers that came on after the game and point it directly at Crystal who was carrying a very sleepy Jayden, and soaked her from head to toe even filling her purse with water and how Royal had to come to her defense, how RaLee was left to gather up banners, equipment, posters and even clean up all the bleacher garbage all by herself, the long hike to the car with our arms full of stuff (now we know which parking lot to use) or how, sadly, we lost our first game. Nope were not going to think about that but instead we will forgive and forget and move on to the positive.
The morning started early getting ready for game day. Emily came by so they could get ready together…Who knew “Cheer Hair” was so important? These two girls are so fun I always enjoy them…
Posters, Banners, Poms, Bags, Bows, Uniform, socks, Spanky’s, 1 fence, 1 giant “D”, quilt, money bag, tickets, change, duck tape, sharpies, pencils, and 1 giant run through banner…check…check…check!
“Cheer Hair” – Check…Check…
And two happy cheerleaders…Check…Check
It was a very exciting night for everyone and it was so awesome, yes I cried when the team and cheerleaders took the field for the very first time… Such a beautiful green field…
Our girls
The American Flag few at half mass in honor of Senator Ted Kennedy…
First Line up for the Pledge of Allegiance…
First this-What do they call it? “Helmut Huddle” You would think I would know but after 4 year of Royal playing football…
First time the captains took the field…
They also played a team that was brand new this year too, The Poston Butte Broncos.
Our first crowd and the bleachers were FULL. I didn’t get a picture of the entire bleacher stand just part of it. But trust me it was full! The squad did an awesome job and looked so good in their new uniforms with their sparkly poms! Their half time performance was so awesome. Amanda recorded it for me and she is working on figuring out how to get it to me so I can download it and share…
Our little Jayden stole the show! She was so cute and loved her new uniform and was so happy to “be like Aunt RaLee”. She was so excited when Aunt RaLee motioned for her to come down and join the cheerleaders on the field. She gave everybody “high fives” and even shook her pom poms and cheered. So here is Jayden…
Kisses from Aunt RaLee
She wasn’t too sure about being that high up!
All the family came. I wish I had pictures of all of them (sorry) and we were so thankful they braved the heat to show RaLee support. Payten got a little hot and tired as we all did.
I know I always come back to missing Sage but that’s a huge part of our life right now. It was so hard not remembering him sitting on our laps watching RaLee at last years football games. He is always there in the back of our minds. I couldn’t help but think as I took this picture that there should be one more boy in a red T-shirt sitting on mommy’s lap.
In Memory of Sage….At Last year’s Game
Amanda spent hours and hours hanging her head upside down off my lap when she was little. So I got a huge kick out of seeing Izzy having the time of her life doing the same thing…
I was so glad that I didn’t forget to take a picture of this sign. We will never see this posted again…
It was a fun night despite a few glitches. I can’t wait for the weather to cool down! I’m so thankful the quilt was finally found and we were able to get some tickets sold.

So where was the quilt? what a scare after all the work and it turned out so neat! Hope it raises lots of money for your fund! did they already draw the tickets or are they going to keep it going through the season?
It sure does look very exciting. 'a special night that will last in your memories!
Well the quilt was given to a couple of Freshman Cheerleaders to sell tickets at the entrance table. They just left it by the entrance and walked away! Then no one could find it. I sat there and prayed that it would come up. They announced it missing and RaLee left the field in 3rd quarter to talk to the girls then she went to their parents. Any way they went looking for it and it was found. It was a kind of return it and no questions will be asked kind of thing. So we only got to sell ticket the last 12 minutes but it took in $40 in that short time. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.
Oh the JV squad will sell tickets at the freshman home games and the freshman squad will sell during JV home games. It will be raffled off at the last home game.
It was alot of fun even though it was so hot. RaLee is an awesome cheerleader I'm so proud of her work ethic and dedication to her team.!
What an exciting time! Football season is always so hot at the beginning then freezing by the end. RaLee looked great out there, especially with Jayden. What a cute pair! Good luck with the rest of the season.
I'm so glad the quilt turned up, especially after all the work that goes into something like that.
Oh I was so sad to hear they lost...oh well..there's always next time...but...there uniforms looked great!!! and the cheer squad lookd awesome!!!!we didn't make it by the time we left Danny's practice it was 830pm and with the boys all in bad moods because it was hot and they were hungry we just went straight home...when we heard Combs lost..my boys were very sad....but...who knows maybe take that lost and learn from that to win the next game!!!...about the crowd thing...
we went last night to my nephew's game at Mesa High and the same thing happened where people and teenagers were just standing in front of us....I about lost it...I excused myself and kind yelled at them to move and pay me some respect because I had just paid money to watch my nephew play and not to watch their backs...guess what it worked..they all moved to the standing area....I also heard some rude comments and some curse words flown here and there close by and again, I kindly reminded them that I have young children and I paid money to be in there to watch my nephew play and not to sit and explain what certain words meant...Lani just kinda hid her face and was just about to cry....heck..economy is awful if I'm gonna spend $10 of my hard earned money, I need to know that it's worth it!! right?!....the parents who just kinda sat there all thanked me in the end and wanted me to be there for the next game...we shall see...but...I love football games...it doesn't matter who wins..it's how they played the game...
It was Isabelle's first ever football game to attend. She loved it! She just sat and watched everyone and everything! It was a a blast getting to see Rae making her high school memories!
Thank you so much for making Jayden's little outfit! Spencer and I were so so proud of our little girl! Spencer and I missed Sage so much that night. If it had not been for our other kids we might have dug holes and crawled in them.
I bet you were even prouder of your baby girl! RaLee did a great job! I cried when they announced her name as captain over the load speaker! RaLee and Emily did a great job! So did all of the other girls!
It looks like a ton of fun and lots of work, too. Sure brings back a lot of memories of our kids when they were in high school.
What a great night! You must be so proud of RaLee!
Jayden looks awesome in that uniform!
Great family night!
