On July 17, 2008 I had the great honor of being present during the birth of my new Grandson. While every birth is a miracle from God I can honestly say that I saw the hand of God at work on this special day. Labor was progressing beautifully when things suddenly turned for the worse. Crystal said she felt sick and I quickly put her oxygen mask on her knowing from past experiences that this would help her. Within moments Crystals and the babies blood pressure suddenly dropped and then there was no heart beat for the baby and Crystal's was falling fast. The room quickly filled with Dr.'s and nurses. I couldn't believe what was happening. It felt like I was having some outer body experience. I could see all of these people working on her and despite the sound from the alarms and shouts from the Doctors you could have heard a pin drop in that room. Earlier Crystal had received three epidurals because the first two didn't work and now they have overdosed her on the epidural medication. They started shooting an antidote into her IV and when there was no response they would administer more. I remember that I had been sending a text message to update Teele and her brothers when she crashed and I ended up sending the following message, "We are losing them! Please pray...Now!" They continued to work on her until their vital signs returned to normal. Her blood pressure fell a few more times but was quickly stabilized. We were so excited when they told her she could push and after ten minutes they made her stop. Her cervix closed! So they put her bed back together and told her it would be another three hours. Sure enough as we approached the third hour she was finally dilated to a ten again and allowed to push. Through it all I could feel the presence of our Heavenly Father and the spirit of the Holy Ghost. Many times throughout that long day the words "Stripling Warrior" and "Gods Army" came to my mind. I knew that my beautiful daughter was bringing a special child into this world.
