Isabelle Kay

It was a long day and Amanda did a beautiful job!  The girl never made a peep but when it got really bad we wiped her tears away.  She spiked a fever because her water had been broke too long and Isabelle was born with a fever.  Her lab work came back and she too is fighting an infection so she will be on IV antibiotics for at least 48 hours.

The delivery was difficult, as most are, but her shoulders got stuck so a nurse had to get in the bed with Amanda and place a knee on the side of her and with both fists press/bounce as hard as she could.  A couple of those and Isabelle was born.  Later Amanda said that it actually felt good!  I was relieved to hear that.

Amanda had some big cuts that required 100+ (I walked away for a bit to see the baby) stitches but that didn't seem to bother her because she was so happy to be a momma!  So if your weak stomached don't look at the photos but I'm posting these for John's mom and sister's in Utah.
We all thought this was pretty nifty...
This is where Isabelle will go after she is born.
RaLee did a couple of hours of this...
John did alot of this.  He was amazing!
Waiting for Isabelle
Mid morning and still smiling
John and I did a lot of this.  Her fever got up to 102 so the cold wet rag felt so good to her.
The oxygen really helped her the last couple of hours
This rather large bump has us all worried.  This is a fibroid tumor that was growing on Amanda's uterus.  They saw it during an ultrasound around 20 weeks but we had no idea it had gotten this big.  They may have to remove this but shouldn't cause any future problems having children.
RaLee has now witnessed 5 births but she just couldn't believe how many cuts Amanda got.  Can you see her face in the background.  She didn't make to loud of a noise, I think only I noticed, but you can tell from the look on her face that it was not easy for Amanda.
It's a girl and she has SO much hair!

8lbs 1.5 oz's and 20 inches long  Born at 9:30:pm on April 13th.
She had a bowel movement before they weighed her so she was heavier by a few ounces at least.
A small round birthmark on the back of her left leg
From the clock on the wall you can see the Dr. has been stitching her up for nearly 30 minutes
Graphic I know but she really went through a lot and lost so much blood.  I heard the Dr. discussing the possibility of transfusing her but they decided not too.  John got a little light headed but on his behalf he wasn't feeling to well either.  It had been a long stressfull day.  When I asked him about it he said, "All I can say is Birth is Messy Business!"  He did an awesome job and is so happy!

Her hair is all curly!  After she was born I noticed Isabelle was holding a handfull of little black curls.  She had apparently pulled some of her own hair out during the delivery.  We are so happy she is here.  We are optomistic that momma and baby will be fine.  They are both on antibiotics and fighting infections and will have to stay in the hospital at least 2 days maybe longer.  But Isobelle didn't have to stay in the NICU as first thought so we are happy about that.
What a blessing to have another grandbaby!
